I recently got my D200 and the other day i finally got the batteries for it, when i put them in and powered it up the back LCD screen didn't turn on with it, is this a problem with the camera or is this just a setting iv missed ?
thank you
Jack

Never had an issue like that when I had my D200, I assume you didn't know if the screen was working before you got it?

The rear screen doesn't come on when the camera is switched on.
Press the menu button to show the menus or take a picture and the screen will display the taken image.

Barry is correct, I was thinking that it wasn't coming on at all, ie even if you pressed the menu button etc.

No it should still come on if you press the menu button

Send it back for a refund by the sounds of it.
Where di you get it from? You say you have only just got batteries for it, Im assuming then that you bought the camera just the body with no accesories?

When I had my D200, I broke the top LCD and two official Nikon repair centers quoted about £50 to replace it. I can then only imagine the cost of a replacement rear screen will be considerably more.

Have you tried a full reset? I doubt it will help but it can't make it worse. Press QUAL and the exposure +/- button at the same time.

It's quite common to see either or both faults manifesting themselves after the camera has been taken apart for something like an infrared conversion, so there's a chance that the previous owner may have opened the camera up to see if they could fix the other problem with the camera (the card error) and damaged or dislodged the ribbon from the main board to the LCD.In fact you might find that both problems are simply down to dislodged or damaged ribbons.

just to make sure before i put in a complint to ebay, there is no chance this is because i dont have a lens attached.

You should still be able to access all menu functions via the rear LCD screen without a lens attached.
