don't suppose anyone has both of these and can take a photo of them next to each other for size comparison? :)

You so need to hear a D700 with the battery pack from the D3 at full chat. :)

I was misinformed on the frame rate. The D700 is a whole one fps slower with the grip fitted. :)
 
If you don't need the extra fps or stamina, you can use a d700 with grip without a battery in the grip - I often do that to save a bit of weight as I'm only after the portrait controls :)

Depending on how often you use the joystick, it's handy having it next to your thumb on the mb-d10. I have small hands and it's a bit of a stretch on the d3s to get to it

aye, part of me is thinking i should have got a d700 but meh. i'll get one as a back up when i catch the leprechaun ;)
 
money aside i would allways choose the D700 over the D3

the D3 is to big and in your face and and i dont need the speed enough times.
i have my own technique for shooting vertical which is as good as the grips for comfort and control
