Was thinking long and hard about upgrading to FF.

Currently use D7000 and D300. Both have grip on and have the following lens.

Nikon 28-70 f2.8 AF-S (older version of the 24-70 f2.8)
Sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSM mkII
Tamron 17-50 f2.8 non VC
Nikon 28mm f2.8 AI (manual focus)
Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S
Nikon 50mm f1.8 AF
Nikon 105mm f2.8 AI (manuak focus)
Tamron 19-35 f3.5-5.6

WAs considering both D3 and D700 due to the price of second hand is pretty decent and if lucky i maybe able to buy one for cheap.

The question is sell the D7000 or D300.

D7000 provide me video stuff and nice little camera to use when traveling etc but the D300 just feels good when shooting specially with heavy lens.
 
D700s seem to be going very cheap now that the D600 and D800 have caught people's attentions - think they've gone as low as £850 in the TP classifieds, although I can't remember what the shutter count was. We've had sub-20,000 click D700s sold for way less than £1,000.

There also seems to be a few D3 bodies knocking around now for well under £1,500.

I'd sniff at neither but I suppose it comes down to which body form you prefer (the D3 is smaller than a gripped D700 BTW) and if the presence of a flash is neccessary.

If it were me I'd keep the best current tech (the D7000), sell the D300 and buy a D3 for no other reason than that all-in-one body of the D3 is lush to hold
 
Get a gripped D700. The D700 will fit the "feels good when shooting with a heavy lens" criteria, and the D7000 can cover the video/smaller camera use that the D700 can't do.
 
With D700 i can just sell the D300 and leave the grip for the D700 since accessories from my D300 is same as D700. More like sell the d300 body and get the d700 body. All control and layout should be same i guess so it will be really easy to use right out the box.
 
dual card slots or sensor cleaning

smaller camera with the option of a grip or always big and comfortable camera

low fps or high fps

on board flash or no flash

All you can do is look at the major differences and see what suits. Personally the specs of the D700 suit me over the D3 (mainly the flash as commander).
 
To behonest is always nice to have a D3 because of the burst and build in grip but to behonest the D700 probably suits me better.

With the D700 is saves me alot of money to buy more accessories since i got all that on my D300.

Hope i can find a decent one for a bargain price.
 
A gripped d700 with a enel4 battery still knocks out 8fps. And without the grip 5fps.
I had a similar decision over a d700 or d3. Both are great, but the d3 will cost approx 50% more than a similar d700
 
If you need the extra build quality/robustness of the D3, go for that. If not, the D700 will (as you know) use all the same accessories as the D300.
 
After some long thinking i'm still GAS to upgrade to full frame but i also want to upgrade my sigma 70-200 f2.8 hsm mkii to a nikon 70-200 f2.8 (VR1). The cost will be pretty much simply so i can either upgrade body or upgrade lens.
 
Someone offering me a D700 plus Tokina 20-35 f2.8 for £899 and the camera only have around 7k shutter count. Good deal or sound like a scam? He wanted cash on collection tho.
