D300 AF Assist Light

Just a question, has any body had an issue with intermittant operation of the AF assist light. Got mine switched on in the settings but last night was at a shoot and it seemed like it worked when it liked even though th light was consistantly low. Just wondering if anybody has experienced the same issue?

What mode have you set the camera to? AF-S with the focus point being center should operate the AF-illuminator.

Noticed mine doing this too at times, be interested to find out why though.

BING, battery was fine but i think KINOBE has hit thenail on the head......Cheers mate, feel like a right plonka now.... Case closed..Thanks guys
