Yes
Anyone ever had a broken aperture lever thing on a D300 and had it fixed? Symptoms are that it will work with AFS G lens (ie without the aperture ring) but not the older non-G ones.

A friend of mine has one in this condition and has been quoted 400 quid for a repair but without the shop having had a look at the problem, just giving them the symptoms....:bonk:

Does this sound about right, anyone actually had this fixed?

Sounds like an awful lot of money, a shutter replacement on a D3 doesn't cost much more than that and I doubt it's anywhere near as complicated a repair, never mind as expensive a part. Who gave the £400 quote?

Yes, I agree...Park Cameras apparently...

Yes, again, my thoughts too.

If Fixation wasn't such a pain in the bum to get to from the home counties, I'd suggest he went to them, but just dropping it in for quote would take an entire day...

Okay, dumb question here: surely if the aperture setting works with G lenses it can't be broken - isn't it the same lever?

Dumb question 2: Is the aperture ring on the non-G lens set to it's smallest aperture (highest number) and locked in place?

I had to think about that, but hey, you might be right...

Its definitely an issue with non-G lenses though but maybe not that one...
