I am never really sure how i should set the camera up for landscapes with regard the many different settings on the D300.
Obviously i use the single shot option but is 9 point or 15 point better suited and what other menus options should i be using?

I have never had any issues but always wonder if i am getting the best from it?
Being a Canon man i find the Af awsome in comparison to my old 50D but also a little confusing

9 point is perfectly adequate for landscapes. The higher point options come into there own with moving subjects.
Rather than fiddle about with menus etc. it is probably easier to focus the camera on a point about one third of the way into the picture, lock the focus, then recompose and take the picture. That will optimise the amout of the shot that is sharp.

Thank you i do that normally but i see so many different settings in the menus i just think maybe i am missing something.

I have found the Magic Lantern guide to specific cameras very helpfull. They have everything that is in the manual supplied with a camera, but go a bit beyond that and give hints such as suggested menu settings. Camera menus can be a bit of a minefield.
