D300 AUTOFOCUS

I am the proud owner of a D300 and keep having to read the manual about focus mode/area selection mode and all that jazz. Also have magic lantern series book on the camera which is good. However, this seems to be a difficult topic to put over to thickies like me. Also have read Ken Rockwells website.
Has anyone any more suggestions about notes available on the internet about this topic.
