D300 issues and homeserve?

Hiya,

I'm having problems with my D300 (will be 3 years old in May) - it doesn't recognise that the battery is charged when using an 80-200mm lens. It seems this is a common problem, but is proving to be incredibly annoying and I'm starting to miss shots during the time it takes to take out the battery and replace it.

Given I'm in Argentina (until a couple of days after the end of the extended warranty but will come back before if neccessary) and that I have no paperwork with me (I'm hoping the letters from Homeserve are in a box in storage), does anyone have any ideas as to how to claim/get this fixed via the warranty I purchased through Nikon/Homeserve? Have googled but to no avail, I just end up with a company dealing in home emergencies.

If that fails, I have insurance with Glover and Howe but would rather it got fixed through Homeserve.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, in particular if anyone has their Homeserve warranty letter to hand with a phone number or website for claims?

Thanks

There was an issue with the D300 giving false low-battery indications, but this was sorted with a firmware update, which is available to download from Nikon's site.

That is however not related to the well-documented incompatability problem between the D300 and 80-200 which is indicated by a small triangle and F6 being displayed on the top LCD screen. This happens because the camera doesn't recognise the lens and assumes "No lens attached or non-CPU lens attached without specifying maximum aperture." Removing the lens and reseating it usually cures the problem, failing that try cleaning the contacts on both the lens and body.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, as it saves you having to deal with Homserve) I'd doubt that either would be classed as a warranty issue.
