D300s Af point selection

I have a new D300s I really like the 51 point af, as you can very acurately focus on what you want.

However is there any way to select your point quicker? It takes so long to scoll over from one side of the frame to another.

Or do I just have to reduce the af points?
 
Use the Multi Selector to go directly to the focus point you want. Very fast and handy. The focus selector lock (around the Multi Selector) has to be on the blob not L.

Check page 66 of the manual for more on this.
 
Can't remember where it is on the menu but you can opt to allow the the point to be able to scroll from the the extreme right to the extreme left by just pressing right and vice versa. i.e. you go off the screen on one side and come back on the other. Can't think of a better way of describing it I'm afraid.

You can also use the the centre button to return the point to the centre.
 
Hi Also A8 option allows for 11 point af selection that will allow you to move around quicker. IF you use dynamic af, it will use the 11 point to initially select your focus point and then use all 51 points if your subject moves.

And if you find your af point stuck and dont know why (which happened to me last week..) you have locked the "Direction Pad Lock lever", and failed your idiot exam!!!
