D300s & Sandisk 16gb CF card problem

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this error at all. I upgraded my D300s with the latest firmware (1.01) a few months ago and had been using my Sandisk 16gb CF 60mb/s card without problems. Last night, I switched on the camera and was greeted by the 'CHA' message. Card works okay in the D200 showing 2600 images available at jpeg large or 939 raw.

The card was purchased from Amazon UK and not from their Marketplace so not a possible dodgy one.

Now placed an 8gb card into the D300s and that's fine.

The firmware is still showing correct on the camera this morning so if anyone has any advice why the card and camera are not playing along together, please let me know.

Possibly a stupid question but have you formatted the card since the error message?

Yes. Tried formatting via the menu and the 2 buttons. Process showed as complete but CHA still showing.

i get this with a 2GB card in the D90, a quick wipe of the terminals of the card on my trousers & pop it in works every time, just a bit of dust in my case - hope yours is as easy to fix

Did you try formatting it in the D200?

its a cf card so you cant wipe the terminals

Not got a Nikon, but it interested me, and I found this:

Dunno if that's useful - basically, suggestion is that it could be battery, card or camera... Narrows it down a bit I feel

I had the same combination (60MB/s sandisk CF in D300s) and no issues, so it's probably not endemic.
