D300s shutter release issue

Hi there,

Been have a play around tonight, and all of a sudden an issue developed with my shutter release button.

Usually, the button is super sensitive and fires instantly. Suddenly, the button wasn't responding (as if the battery were flat), even if I depressed it all the way down. Then I realised after about a second or so a shot would fire.

Happens on both the shutter release button on the camera, and on the Linkdelight grip I've got.

Any ideas? Really disappointed and worried :(
 
edit: appears to be something to do with moving from continuous shooting to single shot (as per my thread in the Talk Photography sub forum)

Moved it to Single earlier on, worked fine. Firing off one shot at a time. Then this sort of spongy feeling happened. Fully pressing the button down but nothing for a short while. I was trying to work out how to describe it, and realised it was like it was on a timer... which got me thinking. I switch the dial back to continuous shooting, and it fired off fine. No delay. Moved it back to Single. Worked fine. No delay. Seems like it had a bit a 'wiring issue' where it thought it was in timer, and not single shot.

Anyone experienced this? Hope it was a one off. Was just admiring how great the camera felt with the grip on and my Tokina 50-135 bolted onto the front when this happened and I thought the worst

I had a similar problem with my D200 - if I was on CH, then moved to S, it would still fire in CH. A few clicks back and forth and it would be fine again. Hasn't done it for ages, so may have just been a dodgy connection.

Thanks bud. I hadn't changed it for ages from CH, so maybe I need to remember to give it a fairly regular 'workout' by clicking back and forth every now and then

It shouldn't be like that though - if it keeps doing it I'd consider sending it in. (Especially if it's still under warranty)
 
how have you got the release priority options set?. If you have focus priority set and the camera is struggling to focus it could cause this?
 
:agree: I've had times like that as well - also with the af-s & af-s switch @ the front :$
