D3100 and Tamron 90 mm

Have seen a second hand Tamron SP AF Di 90mm macro and am interested. The seller says its about 4 years old and has a built in motor.

Will this work AF with my d3100 ? Does 4 years old tie in with the built in motor ?

I doubt it. I looked for ages for a used one for my D3100 and all I could find was the ones without the motor. The new one with built in motor is pretty new out I think. You could be lucky though.

It could well be right, the new version with built in motor appears to have been released on or around the beginning of September 2008, so about 3 and a half years ago.
