I don't think the d3400 has the connection for the corded remote. You will need the cordless ML-L3

There are loads of Chinese copies of this which may or may not work properly so I would recommend buying from a proper camera store.

Annoyingly no. As Snake and Al1994 say there is no port to take a wired remote. Amazon/neewer/foto versions from amazon work although i use a shutter delay if outside for easy of use

The D3400 must be the same as the D3300 then. I was thinking about a remote shutter a while ago. I could not be bothered faffing about, I ended up using the self timer. But that was a pain, as the self timer only allowed to bout three shots I think. It then had to be re set, a stupid idea.

Just had a look at mine. It can be set for a maximum of nine shots, but they are nine consecutive shots. Once the set timer is chosen, and if the max is set to nine, it fires nine without interruption. A bit silly really, no time to re compose the shot.

Because someone may want more than three photos, without holding the camera.
