What would be a realistic price I could get the above combo for out on the high street?? Surely there are some discounts to be had this time of the year and for spending that sort of cash???

What's the chances of sub £4500??

I have been contemplating an upgrade for a long time now and was set on a gripped D700 but am convincing myself that a D3s would make more long term sense! I have been offered a 'loan' of the difference (£1500ish) in funds between the 2 on extremely flexible interest free terms thanks to bank of Mum so do I just go for it!

I have been busy building up a wedding portfolio and have shot 8 over the past 5 mths, off the back of these I have 15 booked in for 2011 and am really finding the limits of the poor old D80.
 
Unlikely you'd get both for under £4,500. Current lowest total price is £4,586 from 2 suppliers. Don't forget VAT goes up on Jan 4th.

Yeah, the vat raise makes quite a difference on that sort of cash so hopefully I can get ordered/purchased before then.
 
Have you asked Stuart at Digital Depot? He's got the D3s at £3,399 but the 24-70 isn't listed at the moment.
