Can anyone guess at what the price on the latest pro bodies from Nikon and Canon will be in the long term? Ever since I have looked into it it seems odd that they are so much more than the previous pro bodies when they were new.
The 1DmkIV according to the graph on camerapricebuster seems to have started out at around £3700 then dropping to around £3500 after 6 months and has stayed around that price. I imagine the D3s is similar but there is no graphic data for it.
Contrast that with the D4 and 1Dx starting out at £5300 that's a massive £1600 more than the previous bodies on release! Is the same strategy going to play out and we will see them drop to around the £5000 mark after a few months?
I am looking at these bodies but maybe more in the long term. It still seems they are a lot more money that their predecessors for small, incremental increases in spec rather than the big leap that the price would suggest.
