D50 AF mode resets after changing mode!

Hi all,

I'm having an issue which I guess could just be the way this model is, but on my D50 if I have it in full auto mode (which I do mostly) the AF mode is set to Closest Subject.
If I choose single area AF from the menu, take a few shots then change to say, S or A mode and take a few more, when I change back to full auto, the AF mode has reverted to Closest Subject.

Does anyone know if there's a way to stop it reverting to this?

A lot if not all the models do that so you get frustrated going thru the menu's
you jump up to a pro model

just played with mine in auto ( for the first time ) and its the same ,bloody awful ,focus point all over the place ,,going back from another setting must default back to the im going to screw your focus point mode .just another reason not to use the green symbol Steve .
