D5000 just arrived :D

Finally after over a month of being at Nikon (sisters birthday... 12 glasses..Orange juice..she slipped = pandemonium, orange juice coated camera that was subsequently dropped. Thank god For Argos cover!!) and initially, I thought great now got my quality sensor, no worrying about noise as I have been with the D200. But god what a horrible little body!! I have grown so used to the D200s bulk and wonderful handling, and no dratted menus..I don't want to go back to this 5000! Everything, literally everything, requires a trip into a menu that is designed for people that photograph drying pain and snails! The agony for a wildlife photographer!

So I think it will be just portrait camera now and a family one - the cracking sensor is the only things thats making me keep it (and the £100 odd I paid for dratted insurance until 2013...:bang::bang

Am sure you'll have thought of this, but isn't the D300 a better match to your old camera, ie top end DX body?

The D5000 seems more like a replacement for the D60...

yeah that is the path really - D300 or S I haven't just bought the D5000 - I've had it since May last year, just while it was away being repaired I got so used to the D200.....
