Hi all, been a while since ive been on as I had to sell all my kit.....thankfully ive got a new set up and ready to clickaway!

Just got my D5000 and its great, much prefer it over my old D80 :)

However when using the rotating screen whilst the camera is on the tipod for self takes (Im a carp angler so need to do this on occasions) the tripod gets in the way of the screen so I cant see myself, is there a bracket or something similar I can buy so the camera sits of the tripod?:help:

Thanks in advance,

Smithy

when ive read reviews on the d5000 every one of them mention the flip screen being blocked by the tripod, i dont think there is any way to solve it.

Tis true, the tripods gets in the way of the flip down screen. However, reading the 'destructions', the 'flip out' is intended for use as a waist high view finder alar large format studio type cameras, thats the way I read it.

I have partially overcome the problem by using a Kood ball head back to front on my pod:

Not the perfect answer to the angler (of which I am one) but it certainly allows me full view of the screen at height from the rear and side.

 . . . It would not be difficult to fabricate an arm, say 6" long X 1.25" wide out of 1/4" aluminium stock, drill a 6mm hole at each end. 1/4" wing nut attaching the arm to the tripod, and a 1/4" bolt that screws into the camera . . . Camera offset by 5", screen will flip down provided the arm does not extend past the back of the camera, (holes need to be drilled in the correct place).

What about an arm used for flash guns . . . ?
