I was messing in the menu system of my D5100 and I found a lens distortion correction option. A few simple questions (googling returned only confusion for me):
1. Does it only work on jpgs, or is it also for raw?
2. Is it a table look up (based on lens, aperture, focal length etc.) or does it analyse the photos?
3. Would affect the maximum FPS?
4. What PP options are there?

Thanks!

1. it will apply to raws if you are using nikons software capture nx.
2. it does not analyse images it applies a default correction when using nikon lenses only.
3. Not sure i don't thin so?
4.What pp options? there are no options where the correction is concerned on/off.

All correct with a little addition :)

Thanks guys. Sorry for late response, I am in China with stupid Internet access. I use Aperture, not Nikon NX, so does that means it doesn't autocorrect raws?

Yes that correct. It may effect frame rate too so just turn it off.

Ok then I will leave it off :-)

Seems to me that someone could release an Aperture plugin to remove the distortion? Although, actually I quite like it in some shots :-)

I really should put on here some photos of my trip to China :-)
