Hi all,
Stumbled across(somewhere on the net)last night, that there is a replacement planned for the D5000, and that it would possibly have the D7000's sensor, but may have the D3100's, but obviously upgraded features from the existing D5000. I can only imagine that if this were to be launched that between it and the D7000, the D90 may be squeezed out! Does anybody out there know if there is any truth in this D5100 rumour?
 
I'd be very interested too!
 
D90 is on it's way out anyway, but I'd imagine the "D5100" would remain like the D5000 without an AF motor.
 
I would be very surprised if they're not replacing it, although it's a good camera buying a brand new one doesn't make that much sense. Because unless you want the articulated screen the D3100 is better.
 
It'd be a monstrous crop sensor camera if Nikon did the same to the D5100 as the D5000-D90 similarity.

Imagine using the same sensor as D7000, same autofocus system, swivel display BUT without the autofocus motor. All that in a lightweight package should appeal to many...many people.
 
I want a moto built in! Just so I have that opportunity - Would have loved a Nikon 80-200 2.8, only £210 :'(

Either way, mines got to last a good while as I bough 3 year insurance against everything a couple months back :bonk:
 
You'll struggle to get an 80-200 2.8 that cheap.

I got mine in the summer new (but I suspect grey import which is fine) and that was near enough £800, same place is doing them still but over £700 still.

Around the same time I looked 2nd hand and they were easily fetching £500+

...but its still a massive bargain compared to the 70-200 :)
 
No I'm talking about the really old one - the AF "push me pull you" one!
