D60 Flash Question

I had a problem with a friends D60. In low light, the flash pops up itself, but doesn't actually fire.

Same happens when its popped up manually. Tried all the flash settings, and all the camera modes including the 'fully automatic' ones.

I have also done the '2 button' reset and also the small rest button near the USB connector.

Is there something I have missed, or does this sound like a fault. Everything else on the camera appears to work normally.

Thanks for your help !!

I had exactly the same problem with my D60 , took it back to Jessops (who are apparently clueless ;)) and they exchanged it there and then

makes me wonder if this could be a common problem

Thanks for the info - that video shows exactly the problem, although sadly, the pin inside the flash has moved so its not sticking out far enough to move the micro-switch.....Looks like it might have to go away for repair :'(

Good video but why did he not take the battery out of the camera first then he wouldn't get zapped.

there's 360 volts from a separate unit that doesn't have anything to do with the battery, so whether it's in or out you can still get a hefty jolt.So it say's on the page
