I have the option to buy either. D60 For £150 with lens and the D80 for £240 without lens. Which one guys? Help!!

if you can spare some money for the 18-55mm VR, I'd go for the D80.

well, sort of.

I doubt the image quality would be drastically better (if at all), but you get more buttons and a bigger sturdier body.

If you can stump up the extra cash for a D90, I would do that though. Much newer sensor, you'd definitely feel the difference.

D80 will have a sturdier body as said, and you'll have autofocus with older AF lenses, bigger viewfinder and top panel LCD. But the D80 is actually older then the D60.
As above, if you can afford it save for a D90 or even a D3100/D5000

I've used a D60 for 2 and half years. £150 is a bargin. (I hope! :D)

The one thing the D60 can offer over most of the nikon range it how small and light it is, to you might find your self in a situation where you find a stunning photograph and you might have left hevier cameras at home, I take mine with me every day and I'm going to atempt to do the same thing with a D300, I'm not sure if I will manage,

Returned the D60 as it had marks on the pictures which turned out to be on the sensor!! Pictures i tried with it were awesome so may get a D3000 instead. IQ was ace.

Now somebody any correct me but the D80, D60 and D3000 all share the same CCD? so image quality will be almost the same.

You can just clean the sensor and the dirt will be gone!

Stuart

The D80 and D60 maybe the same

I though the D3000 had a newer CMOS?

Yea, wasnt dirt on the surface but ingrained!! The shop tried cleaning it but it was non-cleanable!! Still ace pics from it so will buy the D3000 new. Within budget.

Not sure now if i should get the A290 instead of the D3000 for my other half!! They are approx the same price too! Help!

personally I'd stick with nikon

Then you can share lenses rather than buying sony mount stuff for her.

agreed, plus other stuff like flashes and filters

Don't throw the packaging away, you'll need it tomorrow ;) :p

Obviously you can't read.

he's joking meaning you should have got a Canon (and for the record the 1000d is the nastiest most plasticy SLR I've held)

So was i.

Anyway, i agree on the 1000D. Had one and yes it is very 'plasticy'. The D3000 is 'solid'
