I'm a fairly experienced photographer but as yet haven't made the move to FF...i do the occasional wedding and promotional shoots with some portrait work mostly using Nikon primes.
Most of the time the D7000 has been a good servant but it's AF system isn't perfect and has let me down occasionally especially in low light, i assumed the obvious move was to a D6x0 but it appears to use the same focussing system albeit with better low light ability.
The move to FF is going to be expensive as i plan to do more work going forward so 2 bodies will be needed (instead of just borrowing a second) and all new lenses which is some outlay.
Today i read an article from a wedding photographer who was using a D7100 instead of the D6x0 becuase of the superior AF system on the 7100, something that's everything to me as its all about picture quality and hit ratio.
So I could potentially 'upgrade' to a D7100, get more keepers, better high ISO images, improved video and retain all my current lenses, keep the 7000 as a backup body and use the very tidy 1.3x crop feature on the D7100.
In reality what am i losing by not going going FF over the 7100 apart from an awful lot of money ?
The cycnic might wonder if FF exists mostly to allow Nikon to make bigger margins ?
Anyone else had this conundrum...
tia,
Mike.
