D610 from D7100

I have been toying with the idea of moving to a full frame camera from my current Nikon D7100.

I had been set on waiting until I could afford to upgrade to the D750 as I felt this was a natural progression. Last week however I saw a deal in Currys for the D610 with 24-85 3.5/4.5 lens for around £890.

My main question is, would I see a noticeable difference going to the D610? My main concern is the AF in it, which was the reason I didn't go with it in the first place. It was somewhat more expensive at that time though. I do like my 51 focus points and am slightly concerned that I might miss them going down to 39.

Any experiences anyone has had with both, or all 3, of these bodies would be great.
 
Had the D600 but now have the D750, from an image point of view there isn't much in it. But for AF the D750 is much better than the D600, also on the D600 the focus points where too bunched up in the center for me. If AF is a priority then get the D750, if it's something you can compromise on then the D610 will be a good choice and you can spend the money saved on some glass.
 
Go for it. I noticed b****r all difference between the D7000 (39 point) and D7100 (51 point). The one thing i will say though is that you will notice the difference between the AF coverage in the viewfinder. Still, FF is sweet. Especially if you use higher iso's.

I have a 610 and a 750 and must say the 610 is fine. Haven't noticed much of a difference with the AF, even in low light situations. Some things are more refined on the 750 but image quality is identical. I reduce my focus points to the 11 more sensitive ones anyway, suits me for the people I shoot.

If you really don't need that lens I'd go Panamoz - 610 was £795 last week; 750 £1000 - no brainer!
 
The lens has got to be worth £250 on the one in Currys, so bringing the value of the body down to £640, seems a good bargain to me. Was the D610 a display model by any chance?

Yeah I think I would need to add at least one lens.

I probably should have went for the D610 18 months ago but it really was just too expensive at the time.

The Panamoz prices are really good. I think the D610 is now £788.

I know from reading other threads that yourself and @minnnt along with many others have used them alot. Are they generally always good? Also if you have a warranty issue does it get sent back to them or is it dealt with in the UK? I know HDEW use A J Johnstone in Glasgow.

My guess is that it was the display model, although it was in a case so not just the pick up by everyone type display model. I didn't ask and was only after I got home and considered it that I thought I should have asked more about it.

As for Panamoz, I have bought four cameras from them over the last eighteen months or so. I had one D750 where there was some swarf in the Viewfinder and they arranged collection the next day and I had refund back into my account within four days after raising the issue, fanatstic service from the company and better than a lot of UK companies to. I have bought two cameras from HDEW and I got messed about by their delivery company at the time, UK Mail who lost one camera and failed to deliver when promised on the other. Haven't used them since.

What do you shoot mostly which may help with your decision? but the Currys one seems a bargain.

I shoot primarily portraits, but I do try other things also.
I have heard that Panamoz are good.
 
I'd do what Simon suggests if you don't need the lens. Buy UK and sell the lens afterwards which will bring the overall cost down of the body. The lens is generally well regarded anyway.

I've used Panamoz a few times and have been really happy with their service.

Panamoz service is second to none, have used them for several years now and have seen on here plenty of occasions when they sort issues out. I have had a few issues with my 750 but the warranty has been covered by Nikon UK so no problem there.

I have been reading the D750 thread that your both involved in and had seen your positive experiences of Panamoz.

Do Nikon UK cover you for the first year even though it is a Grey product?

I want from a D7100 to D600 and found it almost seamless - the controls are very similar, so was the size. The low light performance was the thing I instantly noticed.

I never had an issue with the AF points or small AF area on the D600. Once you get used to it, you forget that it was a concern in the first place!

Interesting that you did a similar jump @JJ!
Unfortunately the deal was at Currys in Glasgow and I am in Dundee. Might be back there in a few weeks though.
 
I don't really see a relevance given that my own experience has been that I have had warranty repairs undertaken directly with Nikon UK Repair Centre. You are correct in that Panamoz cover by their own 3 year warranty.

Have you got any lenses with your D7000 that will work on FF? I would highly recommend the D610, and at £890 including the lens, thats a steal!
 
The D610 is a very good buy at that price. Go for it. I love my D750 to bits and it has had a bit of a price drop recently, but the D610 represents very good value. You could still buy a very nice lens for the price difference.

Providing your ready to buy..............

Looking on Curry's website it seems they aren't doing this bundle anymore, so it maybe worth your while trying to go and pick it up or phone and reserve it if you can, as it seems to be a display model and they may only have one?

I hummed and arred a few years ago over a display model Panasonic GX1 @ Currys and when I went to pick it up they had sold it, I was gutted at the time.:(

Also, are you 100% sure it was a D610 with the lens and not a D600 as they are currently selling the body only for £1184.00 > http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/camera...-d610-dslr-camera-body-only-21798232-pdt.html

Yup was definately a D610.

It is a fair drive away so I think it will be a case of getting it if they have it in a few weeks time when I'm next there, which I expect they won't. If they do maybe it's fate.
