D700 8fps question

Quick question, I have a gripped D700 and although I can get 8fps with my 2900mAh AA batteries the camera is ridiculously heavy with them inside the grip(dread to think what it will be like with anything other than my primes)! Does anyone know if the ebay EN-EL4 copies from hong kong will work in it?? like this one

I imagine they would work, but they are pretty heavy too! I use genuine Nikon ones in my meike grip and alone they are quite heavy, I shall compare with some AA's and see.

8 AA batterys is abit of a nightmare lol. I cant see me needing the 8fps very often but it would be nice not to have to charge 8 batteries each time

The 8fps option with the D700 is only with compatible en-el4 battery in the grip or 8x AA batteries.

Memory card is fine, sandisk 30MB Ultra card

You have to be careful with some of the copied grips that they can take the EN-EL4 batteries. Even though I got the EN-EL4 adapter with my grip, there were people who had bought it at the time that said that it didn't fit the grip I had. And the company I got it off said that it 'may' not fit when I queried it.

Of course the benefit of the EN-EL4 is not only the extra frames per second, but also that the battery lasts so long. Handy if you are firing loads of frames off consistently, or taking a loads of pics in a short period of time.

Plus you will need the BL-3 for your grip to take the en-el 4 battery,and a charger for your en-el 4 battery

I use a Nikon D700 with the MB-D10 grip along with the EN-EL4 battery. This is a very useful combo and offers a very useful 8fps which nearly matches my D3S' 9fps.

Weight is something we all hate but it's just part of the course I'm afraid. I've slowly got used to walking round a race track with a D3S + 300mm f2.8 + D700 + Grip + 70-200mm f2.8 on a Blackrapid harness and a belt holding 24-70 f2.8 and 1.4x converters. So to me, the weight of the battery is not even a consideration.

Be aware though, a cheap battery is cheap for a reason! There is a lot of energy stored in an EN-EL4 battery and if it's a poor quality copy or it doesn't contain a thermal fuse it cause a great deal of damage!!

As far as the question from Admirable, I have seen a video on YouTube where someone have plugged in a battery pack containing an extra AA battery and that gave the D700 11-12fps!! I don't think I'll be trying that though!
