Well it arrived a couple days ago but I had it delivered somewhere else as I was in the process of moving house when I ordered it last week, and picked it up today.
I already use a D3 and D300s but needed a second full frame body and thought the D700 would fill the gap while I wait for the release of the D4. But theres still something fun about a shiny new camera.
I have a battery grip for the D300s that I believe should fit the D700 but I kind of like the smaller body if I'm carrying it with the D3. I've set it up how I like it and snapped a few test frames in the backyard so far, seems slightly quieter than the D3. I have a shoot tomorrow so might give it a proper try out then.
Odd how it seems to have the space for an SD memory card but no slot and surprised nikon didn't stick one in like the D300s, a second CF slot would be ideal but an SD for backup would be better than nothing.
Layout is very close to the D300s, it really is a very nice full frame body and I can see I will probably choose it over the D3 when I want to be a little more discreet, street shooting for example.
