D700 CF light issue, ideas?

Hi All

I have a problem with my D700.... whenever there is a memory card in it and the camera is turned OFF, the cf light and top lcd number is flashing. This happens with and without a lens attached, and stops when I remove the card. However, with a card in, its flattening batteries pretty quickly. The cards are good quality sandisk cards and I have tried several, both formatted and with old pictures on them, all the same. Firmware is up to date.

I have a horrible feeling its an expensive trip to Nikon, but has anyone had this before and knows something I don't first?

No ideas sorry Yvonne, but never had that issue with either of mine nor heard of anyone else having it. I suspect a costly repair is on the cards though (pun intended).

This isn't regarding a D700 but a Nikon D300 - I have read all the way thru as have too many pages open at the ame time looking for reasons why... But its dated 2009 so it may help than again it may not...

Thanks Trig, I did find that from a google search and its not looking good, but thought as it was a few years old, would be worth asking here as alternatives may come to light. I tried the buffer clearing thing, but made no difference.

Did you manage sort out what the cause was on this problem :shrug:
