Without wanting to influence any outcome to this I find the 2 cameras produce wildly different results at the same settings. Anyone else found this and which do you prefer. In particular mid tone brightness. blacks and autowhite balance and general tone are just worlds apart. Maybe not one better than the other but so different.

I found this when I moved from Canon (20d) to Nikon (D700). Everything colour-wise was different; not better or worse, just different. The overall colour from the Canon, especially straight OOC, seemed brighter and punchier.
But two years later with the Nikon, I've got used to it.

Yes I've noticed that...Personally I find what the Nikon produces especially with Nikon lenses straight out of camera very close to what my eyes see. I find it very natural looking compared to other brands, but can see how some in comparison find it slightly flat and dull...I prefer to call it accurate and natural...
