D700 firmware update.

For some reason I missed the announcement of a new firmware update for the D700.
It is A 1.04 B 1.03.
Anyway, having updated it, it seems the W/B is better, and the focussing seems quicker too, along with an improvement in the speed taken to process images.
Any-one else noticed this? I know the Nikon site says it includes support for the 800mm, which isn't exactly on my next week's shopping list, but there is a definite improvement overall in my mind.
On the other hand, I could just be imagining the whole thing !!

I saw someone at NikonCafe reporting the same, AF improved.

Same for the D300s... though I haven't noticed anything. Don't shoot moving stuff and have always found the AF extreme anyway...


Guess you could reverb and do a series of tests? :D
 
I updated mine when it first came out. Noticed no difference. I'm guessing if the changes were more than just support for a lens I will never use, then the Nikon spin doctors would have been stupid not to mention it.
So, if you notice a change great. But for me nothing.
Still love my D700 though. Now even better VFM against a D610.

All that update did was add support for a 13k 800mm lens

Yes, I know that's what Nikon said, as mentioned in my post.
Just saying I think there have been other "tweaks" included.
Having done a bit of looking around on other forums since I posted, it seems others would agree with me.
Either way, it's working for me, which is all I care about.
