Hi,

Ive recently upgraded to d700 and was shooting this weekend, when i ran out of battery in the grip and couldnt find my spare en3 battery so quickly threw in 8aa batteries into the grip and couldnt believe how fast it was shooting.

I hadnt realised that before with 2 en-el3 batteries it wasnt reaching full 7fps?

Is there any way to get full FPS with 2 EN-EL3 rather than having to use my eneloops for the grip?

Thanks,
:thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking:
PS sorry if this is an absolutely STUPID question. I have a feeling it is and im gonna feel like an idiot! :shrug:

The only way to get the 8fps is either use a EN-EL4 or EN-EL4a battery but you need the BL-3 to attached the battery in the grip. or use AA battery like you said.

Using 2 EN-EL3 or 1 will not get you 8fps.

The enel4a route is great, but expensive. I bought a third party battery and charger. Both crap. Ended up with a good used Nikon battery and a mh -21. Both cost over £100.
Unless you need 8fps a lot, stick with 8 AA's.
