Can anyone advise which of the lenses in my sig will work on a D700 and where I can get one on finance for more than 12 months? Jessops only do 12.

Thanks

The 18-135 and 55-200 are Nikon DX lenses so I assume they won't.

All of them will, great thing about when Nikon when FF was that all FF camera has crop mode that allows for crop/DX lenses to be mounted- in which case only a fraction of the full sensor area is used, which in terms means less megapixels used in the final image. But certainly they can be all 'used'.

Asides from that, the 50mm and 28-75 will work in full frame mode.

The crop mode on the D700 is not really ideal as you end up with a 5mp camera, yes this is ok but just not ideal. You can force the D700 to run a crop lens in full frame but this can give anything from a round image to the more likely heavily vignetted one. I stuck an 18-55 kit lens on and took it outside just to show how bad it would be only to find that the image was actually not that bad at all and its only problem was the vignetting. I converted the image to black and white and it looked quite nice.

Saying all that I wouldn't use it like that and would prefer to use a proper ff lens and add vignetting afterwards.

Send a PM to Stuart at Digital Depot. He is a Nikon pro dealer and a member on here. He doesn't mess you about and will give you a really good price plus everything will be full UK spec and warranty - I even got a free Nikon baseball cap

where I can get one on finance for more than 12 months?

I think big stores like Curries, PC world, Dixon's online may do it, also, check out ebuyer, although If you get more than twelve months you will probably pay well over the top on interest, as i don't think that length of time attracts interest free :)

Just seen Warehouse express do 24 and 36 months on finance, take a look HERE ;)

Cheers all, I'm desperate for one of these, juts can't afford to buy it outright just yet :'(

Why not go to your bank and sort a loan out. That way you can choose how long you wish to pay it off. Then you can negotiate a nice discount for cash.

Get all the pricing together, add it all up, sort out the discount and finance it how you like. Besides bank loan rates are better then store rates in a lot of cases. Check to see which is most advantageous to you. :)

Why the desperation ? your D90 is an excellent camera :)

Not a D700 though is it! Must admit, I am tempted with one. Don't get me wrong, D300 is excellent, but the FF tempts me (all my lenses are FF anyway) and the high ISO tempts. Generally go to 640-800 max, but being able to go higher would help in keeping shutter speed up - essential with little ones!

OP, barely any of your lenses can use the large benefit of a D700 - your 18-135, 10-20, 55-200 and 30 1.4 will all crop it to 5MP - slightly better high iso performance yes, but not a vast amount - you'd be far better off, for the 1-2 stops better high iso performance than you have at the moment, staying with your D90, or if you're really itching to spend money, a D300, and spending the rest on 2.8 glass...

and your D90 is great up to iso1600, and not even too bad at 3200, and think what specifically about 'the FF' benefits you and what you shoot, rather than just (like some people do 'IQ') seeing it as a new goal that will magically make your photos better.

I'll be eventually getting the 70-200 and 24-70 2.8. I'll be keeping the D90 anyway as a second body, but am definitely going full frame for my next purchase. I'll sell the 30 as there won't be much use for that with a 50 on the D700, and will also sell the 55-200 when I get the 70-200.

I'm not knocking the D90 by any means, I love it. I do portraits though and have had use of a D700 and it really does blow the D90 out of the water.

I always thought one can barely distinguish full-frame from APS-C, if the lighting is good enough.

Wouldn't it make more sense investing into better glass now and getting the full-frame body later?

If I didn't need a backup body then yes, but I need one now and have enough decent glass for portrait stuff at the moment to see me through.

Mmmm...D700,Bank Loan....result...joy !!
Find a way, you know you wanna.
