Hi Guys,

So, i have a d700 currently which is getting some use, however im finding myself printing a lot of my shots.

The upgrade to the D800 and its larger 36mp sensor seems like it will benefit my printing well.

I've glossed over the problems with the D800 focusing issues can anybody summarize how to look for this and mention any other issues with the body?

Can anybody also tell me the difference between the D800 and D800E (i understand its something to do with RAW)

Anybody with working knowledge between the two could help me out?

The D800E has a filter removed from the sensor to permit sharper images. Whether, in practice, that makes a worthwhile difference is another matter.
I am swithering between the D800 & D800E, but am also waiting until I am convinced the focussing issue has been put right.
I don't want to buy a camera that has immediately to go to Nikon for repair.
 
how big do you usually print? 10x8 and id stick with the d700. 20"+ id think about the d800.

The whole focusing thing is a pain in the harris for sure, but how would you know all shop ones have reached a point where they wont show the problem? I dont think nikon have even acknowleged the problem yet? If you really want one, take the plunge and get it and then possibly wait a week while it gets sorted rather than wait 12 months and still not be sure shop stock is all in the clear.

my prints sometimes get quite large, on canvas, usually plus 20"

I think i've decided im going to get one.

If i were to buy in Italy, would Nikon UK warranty this item (as its still europe?)

A very good wildlife photographer once told me (in a discussion about cropping) that he only needed 6mp to get an acceptable 20x30" print.
