D700 Setup question

Hello,

I think the answer to this is probably no but I'll ask it anyway...

I have set up my D700 with a few custom and shooting menus but primarily I have for both custom and a shooting bank a setting for

General
Off camera flash
Tripod

The "general" has ISO sensitivity auto control, the other two have not.

I have set up the fn button to select the top item of "my menu" which is where my question comes.

When shooting in "general" mode I want the top item of my menu to be "ISO sensitivity settings" so I can set the minimum shutter speed to match my lens.

When shooting is "Off camera flash" mode I want the the fn to select the commander mode settings so I can control my lights.

I tend to select my shooting and custom bank, and then "rank items' so the fn button does what I want it to do.

Is there a simpler way? or am I rambling like a mad man?

This has to be entirely a personal preference thing, Pete, but it does seem very complex.

I have some custom settings changed to suit what I prefer and I rarely alter these.
I have set auto focus to be controlled solely by the AF-ON button and I have set the Fn button to switch on spot metering.

Don't think I could handle anything much more complex. I don't like having to frequently delve into menus.

Maybe I am making things a bit complex but like the scorpion and the frog, it is my nature. :geek:

I have the AF-ON focus too, but only for my regular and off camera flash settings, for Tripod I like the half press to work too.

What I would like to able to do is have the Fn button do different things when I am in Off camera flash mode compared to regular mode. In regular mode I want Auto ISO settings and in Flash mode I want Flash settings.

I don't think there is a way which is why I am asking...
