D700 to d750 upgrade questions

Hi guys im seriously thinking of upgrading my d700 for the d750 and wanted some thoughts on people who have made the switch to see if your happy with the decision. The things im interested in with the d750 are the improved autofocus and low light performance. The things im mot convinced by are the build quality of the d750. It doesn't look as rugged as the d700 and i think i might miss all the controls in the camera body. Yes the d800 has the same controls as the d700 but that is way out of my price range. Also im looking forward to the wifi on the d750. Think ill use that alot. Just want to make sure its the right upgrade to make. Any thoughts

I haven't used my D700 since I got a D750 back in April.

Unless you want to use it for hammering in nails the build quality is fine (I've dropped my D750 once....), and the controls are (IMO) better than on the D700 - assigning ISO to the movie record button is a step forward. There are also lots of little improvements to functionality that aren't obvious at first reading of the specs.

I had a d800 and traded it in for the d750. Control wise I don't have any problems, the only one I can think of is quality button and back focus button are not there. WB can be programmed to the movie record button so it's on the top right and easier to change. I've not had a problem changing, I quite like the smaller 'consumer' bodies and don't see that much difference in build quality unless you want 'pro' body controls and extra weight.

Used prices the d800 are around £800 and the d750 on here for around £900-1000.

Ooops i acrually meant to reference the d810 not the d800. The d800 isnt an option as ive heard people say its not much of an upgrade over the d800 other than the resolution of images etc. The new updated autofocus system is what i really want. Just hope i can cope with the new button layout

Sorry I can't say as I don't use back button focus except for landscapes. It probably best to try handling one as what is comfortable for one person may not be comfortable for others.

The D810 or D750 makes more sense. The better focus and fps of the d750 was one of the reasons I changed along with the lighter weight.

I'm a left eye shooter and have no problems with the back button. But your thumb might be different to mine!

Never used the wifi on the D750 (or any of my cameras that have it, beyond seeing if it works!) Not a BBFer either. Good upgrade from 700 - 750 IMO, the 8?0 was overkill for me so traded it in against a Fuji system.

I'm a lefty too, and whilst I don't have an issue with the AEL/AFON button per se I don't feel that it's ideally placed, not as natural/comfortable as I'd like.
