Yes
Anyone got good reports on the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 AT-X PRO DX AF used on a D700?

Really interested in purchasing this, but concerned that a menu workaround won't bring out the best.

Oh I know, I know.
I'm sure I read a good review of the set up somewhere but can't find it. Busting a gut to have one, but not if it's a huge compromise!

All I know is my 1DS mk2 full frame works fine (from 18mm) with Tokina 12-24mm. I would think yours will be fine from ~14mm..

Nice shot. Taken from Gauman Tower?
Any wider and it's poor?

You can go wider but that would give black corners. It would be not an issue at 16-17mm with 12-24mm if you intend to crop to 5x7 or even 8x10 ratio. Eventually it becomes like a full frame fisheye but without distortion at 12mm. Considering that saved me buying 17-40L with the massive distortion at 17mm I am fairly happy.

P.S. It was taken from the riverbank.

This combination makes no sense at all - I can't see any logic in buying a £350+ DX lens for a full frame camera. If you really want this lens, buy a Nikon D50 for it, it'll produce better low ISO IQ than a cropped D700 image.

Get a Tamron 17-35 instead if you are going with a D700.
