D7000 & 17-55 f/2.8 question

Does anyone else use this combo and find that through the viewfinder, it doesn't look like the photo is in focus but when you check it afterwards, it is?

This is the only lens that this happens with for me, and I tried the lens in a friend's camera and it seems to be in focus through the viewfinder....

Anyone have the same issue and ideally an explanation why this happens?

I haven't noticed on mine at all. In fact I just checked it and it was fine (at f/2.8).
 
I've had two f/1.8 lenses and never noticed any issue on them before, even wide open. It's strange - all the photos seem to be in focus when I look on the LCD or on my computer so it's not a major issue but just found it a bit strange and wondered if anyone else had the same situation...
 
Would it be likely that I would need to adjust it only for one lens though? As I can see all other lenses when they're in focus quite clearly - my understanding of the viewfinder dioptre adjustment thing is just if you need glasses etc - my prescription is very weak so not sure that would be the issue.

Have you tried another lens since you encountered the problem? I don't know if this applies to the D7000 but the D2X I used to have had a screw head in the mirror box that was used to adjust the perceived focus in the view finder. It could quite easily be knocked.

I use that combo for work on a daily basis and can't say I've found this. Only thing I can suggest is a diopter issue. Don't know if the D7000 has a removable focussing screen.... if this is loose it can cause problems.
 
Realise this is ages after your reply but just rediscovered this thread via iPhone app. Adjusted dioptre per your tip and fixed it - not sure why but thanks for the tip! Sadly the main shutter release on my d7000 has gone a bit wonky of late so having to use one on battery grip pending popping it into AJ Johnstone to let them have a look!
