D7000 battery grip

Hi all, just fitted my battery grip to my new D7000 and it isn't reading the AA batteries even when set to use the battery grip power first. Batteries are Duracell 2400mAh rechargeables that are fully charged. When fitted with another 3rd party EN EL15 battery it reads fine with percentage, battery condition and uses it first.

Am I doing something wrong?

Have you selected the correct battery type in the menu?

Thanks for the reply. It was set to LR6 so I changed it to NiMh, is that correct or have I chose the wrong one?
