D7000 kit lens reversing ring ?

Hi,
Need some advise please.
I want to have a semi serious go at Macro and after nailing down the lens i fancy ! A Nikon 200mm f/4 AF-D Macro and it's price !!!!! I thought i would attempt Macro using one from my current lens collection and a reversing ring.
They appear to get very good results at a fraction of the cost.
So
I picked the kit lens 18-105mm for the task..
The filter is 67mm so i would need a 67mm to Nikon fit but is there any complications with this set up, Anything to watch for ?

You'll need to use stop down metering and as its a g lens you have no way of controlling the aperture except via bluetac or the like.

Much easier to use a lens with an aperture ring if you have one.

Out of interest, what's your thinking behind aiming for the 200mm macro?

The 200mm lets you get some distance between the lens and subject, handy for Bug photography.
I also considered the 105mm and Tokina 100mm in 2.8.

If there's a reason to shy away from the 200 i would appreciate the heads up.

Well, I decided against it for two reasons, actually make that three.

1. Prices are crazy IMO when other macro lenses are all so good. (I use the Tokina BTW)
2. Weight. I can't imagine crawling through the undergrowth and hand holding with that lens.
3. With a bit of practice, working distance of 100mm is fine.
4. Yeah, sorry I like a good deal of natural light in my shots. Shorter and lighter = slower shutter speed without blur.

Having said all that, my reasoning is based on my methods and preferred way of working. You may have a completely different approach.

Handheld .. well no tripod anyway 300mm F4.5 IFED with extension tubes.

Just have a go with what you have got, dammed Damsel fly's will never sit still else I would have used the trusty Sigma 24mm F1.8 Macro

By the way the exif lies as its a non cpu lens I had just forgotten to change which one was set.

I will have a go with the kit lens see how i get on then decide on a dedicated Macro at some stage.
Good point about the weight of the 200mm just looked it up !!
