D7000 & ML-L3 IR remote question

Hi there,

I was wondering if any D7000 owners can enlighten me - is there a way through the menu to use the ML-L3 IR remote with mirror-up mode or you have to choose one or the other?

Just wondering if it's worth buying the corded remote, the MC-DC2 for those tripod-mounted f/22 type of shots - I'm curious to see how much detail my lenses can resolve under optimum conditions (you'd never know I studied science at uni, would you?!)

Its one or the other but are you sure you want mirror up and not bulb?

Mirror up takes and 'holds' the shot until the shutter is released again (useful when you want to be quiet) and bulb hold the first curtain open to gather light (slow shutter speed).

Yup, I wanted to see how sharp an image I could get by not having either the mirror flipping up or me pressing the shutter release affecting the stability of the camera so that any lack of sharpness is down to the lens / sensor and not tiny movements of the camera...and it seems with the D7000 that you either have the remote on or the mirror up, not both. So I thought perhaps with the corded remote you could have the option of both....

buy a corded remote off fleabay, about £5-ish, IMO better than IR unless you are doing self portraits, but if you want to trigger from a distance get a cheap wireless trigger, no need to point or even be in line of sight, and works through walls.
7dayshop do a cheapo one that acts as a flash or camera trigger.
with both all functions work like pressing the shutter release.
