D7000 NEFs

I've had my D7000 since Christmas and at first I was shooting jpeg, because I use photoshop and didn't want to upgrade to get the new ACR. I'd forgotten I can use Nikons view NX2 so I've started shooting in raw, but since I have, I've started running into problems. Quite often, when I open a folder with NEFs from the D7000 in, windows explorer will crash and freeze, meaning I have to end the task. Has anybody else experienced this or heard of it? I tried a google search but nothing came up!

Are you trying to view the raw files directly in Explorer?

I'm not trying to view them, and it's not every time, but quite often I'll simply open a folder with the NEFs in and it will crash immediately. I have the latest version of View NX2 and also downloaded something from Nikon which is meant to allow viewing of D7000 NEFs in explorer, so maybe it's that. Maybe it's this which is crashing explorer when trying to render the previews

Just an update in case anybody else experiences this, may help. Turns out it was the Nikon RAW Codec, as I've just uninstalled it and it's not happened since, including in a folder that crashed every time I opened it.
