D7000 problem in manual

It is possible I'm being thick, but in manual mode my D7000 seems to think I have a flash attached as it wont let me go above max sync shutter speed. Is it just something I've done??
 
Have you recently had a flash attached?
Sometimes the micro switch on the hotshoe gets stuck down and makes the camera think a flash is attached.
Try mounting and remounting a flash, or try to release the switch somehow.
 
i may be totally off the mark here, but what about if you enabled auto fp in the bracketing/flash settings?

That's more of an issue with Canons than Nikons...

Dean, when you take a shot does the EXIF show a flash being used? Sounds to me more like something to do with the pop-up flash not closing properly, or an issue with the microswitch on that, than a hotshoe problem.
 
I had just taken my SB800 off it. I've tried reseating it and removing again and I've tried the popup. Graham, the exif shows flash function and fired as false.

Found this, where a guy had the same problem, but on a D200 (and the solver's D300), this was what fixed them....

I had this problem with my D300 when shooting in snow, in Manual Mode. What happened is the sub-command dial (rear) for the shutter speeds........"bottomed out".......at X1/250. In other words the command dial was at the...last....shutter speed setting when selecting the......slow shutter speeds.
Just turn the sub-command dial the opposite way, and it will take you up through the slow speeds and back to the high speeds at the other end. Anyway, this is what I did in the heat of battle photographing in snow, using manual mode. It drove me crazy for and hour or so.

How mad is that? I did this just now by accident and didn't think anything of it until reading that. Picked up the camera and all is well! Cheers, bud. :thumbs:
