D7000 replacement for D5000?

As the title suggests I am looking to find out whether Nikon has replaced the D5000 with the D7000? I know for a fact that the D5000 has been discontinued. It just seems that the D7000 is such a vast step up from the D5000. It maybe seems like more of a D90 replacement. Anyone able to shed and light on this? Would be much appreciated!

As far I am aware the d7000 has been touted as a D90 replacement. With the D300s rumoured to be hitting in the first quarter of 2011

D300s cameras have been out for a while now or am i missing something?

The D3000 ws replaced wiht the D3100, I presume the D5000 will be replaced with a D5100??

I'm guessing if the D5000 has been discontinued, D5100 is coming soon.

The D7000 hasnt replaced the D5000 or the D90. It sits inbetween the D90 and D300s at present.
