D7000 Strange issue

I just got a D7000 yesterday and have been testing it out. I came across a strange issue and was wondering if anyone has seen the same.

Note: I have only seen this while using bracketing and with the inbuilt flash up.

This doesnt happen each time but I take the first image then if i tilt the camera down or move it around a bit it feels like the mirror is loose or something and at the same time the flash comes on solid with a kind of flicker and buzzzes. If i flip the camera back up to the upright position it stops doing it, then if i tilt again it starts.

It is hard to reproduce this, it doesnt happen each time but only noticed while using the flash and bracketing.
 
Most Nikon's I've used seem to have a rattle from the pantaprism when the flash is down... and not when it's up. Something to do with the latch mechanism.


The buzzing is the pre flash strobe to reduce redeye...


I think you need to sit down and read the manual.. it's supplied with the camera for a reason.

There's northing wrong with your camera most likely.

Do you mean that it starts flashing all on it's own when you tilt it down?.... or only when you tilt it down and then actually take a shot? If the latter, it may just be that the scene is darker when you tilt it down... so it fires the flash... take it off auto and it will stop. If the former, and it just randomly fires without even pressing the shutter, then yes, it's broken.

Should the pre flash strobe come on for about 2 seconds only when i tilt the camera? I dont even touch the shutter button.
 
I have read about the 'modelling flash' online and it sounds like this could be it and it's possible i was pressing the DOF button when tilting to activate it.

However i can't find any information about this in the manual, can any D7000 owners explain the settings needed to reproduce this? or which page in the manual I can find the information from?
 
Ok, seems i was just pressing the DOF button and setting off the modeling light.

I have turned the feature off as I don't see much use for it and frankly I think it's more likely to give someone a siesure than help with you shot.
