hi all just thought that instead of asking advice,i would recommend something instead,now i like to have a go at the moon when time allows,but have always struggled with focusing etc on the cameras screen,so i bought a otg cable and a nexus 7 tablet and installed an app called dslr dashboard,and wow what a difference it makes allowing me to see the screen in front of me,zoom in for focus and alter all settings on the camera from the tablet,before taking the pic...cant recommend this combo enough..made my hours session last night much more enjoyable,far superior to the nikon app

not tried that mode yet phil but here is a moon pic using this method

Sorry for the stupid question but how do you get the live view to appear on the tablet? I've got the cable connected and the app installed, and can change settings on the camera using the app, but I can't actually see what I'm taking a picture of on the tablet...

Thanks - though going by some of the reviews it seems to be specific to the d3100 :-/
