D7100 sensor issues?

I've had my D7100 for just a few weeks. Noticed on my shots from the weekend that there was a pretty serious bit of sensor dust that had managed to get in all my photos.

When I was back to the hotel I got in the shower with the blower (:naughty:) and got rid of the main bit that was causing the issue.

Now, today I go to take a test shot to see how bad it is, there's about 12-15 pretty severe spots on the sensor. I've not ever changed lenses whilst switched on, in any type of risky environment or anything.

On the other hand, my D5100 which I had from day 1 has had lens changed whilst being on, changed on a windy day, this, that and just about every careless mistake possible. It has about 2-3 spots on the sensor.

Has anyone else had this issue? Really frustrated as I have a big event this weekend and I haven't got time to get it cleaned! :bang:

Could you have a problem blower ? The amount of dust seems to be rather excessive.
 
How would I be able to tell? It's not a good brand, just a cheapo brand I got at a camera shop. If that's what's causing it I sure as hell wish I paid the few extra quid!
 
Don't shoot at f/22 - best sharpness will be around 5.6-8 anyway. Easy to clone out any that are still visible. Then clean it - recommended supplier here http://www.cameraclean.co.uk/products.php

Rocket blowers are not supposed to suck dust in, but they can do just a bit. Had this problem myself after cleaning some very dusty electrical gear, so pulled the blower apart and gave it a thorough wash/rinse.

BTW, turning the camera off for lens changing makes no difference.

I was shooting motorsport at f8-f11 (for slower shutter speeds), when the camera is at either of these a couple of spots can be noticed quite visibly.

I'm going to get a Giottos blower, would rather get a decent one to avoid it happening again!

I don't trust cleaning my sensor myself, hopefully somewhere locally can do it.
 
Oil splatter would prob be on the upper left side of the image similar to the D600 and earlier D7000 issues. This looks like dust spots which are also a problem on the D600. I very rarely get spots now at over 4000 clicks. The D7100 and D600 probably have a similar mirror box and speculation was that the dust was coming from the shutter curtains rubbing together. I find for big dust spots a sensor brush works best.

edit: After looking at your image closely a lot of the spots are top left:( might just need a wet clean to clear those.
