D800 Firmware Update problem

Hi

So I've followed all the steps correctly (I think).

Fully charged the battery, take the card, a Sandisk 16Gb ExtremePro and placed it in the laptops card slot, copied the D800_0102.bin file from the laptop onto the card, placed alongside the DCIM folder. Take card from laptop and return to camera. Turn camera on, go to Firmware Version to update, but there is no Update option to highlight. In short it's not recognized. Any ideas? The last firmware update went OK. :shrug:

make sure you put the bin file on a card that goes in the main card slot and not the secondary slot. Also make sure that you format the card first

Thanks. There's only one SD card slot on the camera and the card was formatted first.

Is there a D800 and D800E update and you're using the wrong one?

Make sure that you set the SD card slot as the main slot

Good point, make sure you have the D800E firmware if that is the camera you own

Format the card again, then copy the file across again. I had the same problem twice, worked perfectly the third time, the "update" option appeared underneath the "done" in the firmware menu, and the whole process was stress-free!
