D90 + 50mm f1.8D issue...

So put the lens on, lock the ring to f22 and when in A mode the lens is at f1.8 but I cant adjust it to any other setting?

In full auto mode it adjusts ok?

Anything I could be doing wrong?!

Edit that - doing it on the 18-105 too!

Just opened up the camera so its probably me doing something wrong?

Use the command dial on the camera to adjust.

The lens must be locked to f/22 to work. Aperture is controlled via dial, not aperture ring.

Dont worry im sure most of us have had a moment like this before, there is so much to learn and the curve is huge.

I can imagine f1.8 and very shallow depth of field shots coming up from you because that is just what happens when you get your first fast glass, just because you can you will, so enjoy!
