D90 autofocus problem

Having a problem with my d90, i take a lot of offroad motorcycle shots, having a lot of trouble with the focusing when bike are coming towards me, it is set to afc and i also have a d50& d200 and these work fine in similar conditions, any help appreciated as its just out of warranty

I *think* the d90 does suffer from a front focus issue . Only reason i know is because my m8s has packed up!

I had problems getting good results of kitesurfers using my D90 until I started using back button focusing with continuous focus. Might be worth a try.

Manual? Used to do lots of motocross and always used it in 'M'

I'd set it manually if you don't get a comfortable AF result, since you can roughly guesstimate how far the bike is going to be from you.
