d90 battery problem

i bought a brand new d90 in november,i will be lucky if i have taken 500 photos,when i charge the battery it is only charging to 75% and running down quickly,i have just had a look at the battery info in the camera and it is showing 4 which means the battery is at the end of its charging life,the battery has been removed from the camera when not in use,has anyone had the same problem,surely a battery should last longer than this.

Definitely should be much better than that. Got my d90 In October last year and it's still showing zero in the battery age gauge. Must be a fault with your battery I'd say.

Is it a genuine nikon battery or a 3rd party battery. Where did you get it?

Sounds broken... I've got genuine and aftermarket batts that have all been well used, and they still show zero on battery age.

Take it back to the shop?

definately an original nikon battery,bought from a well known camera shop, i am giving it another charge now to see what hapenns

just charged it and only showing 58% should i contact the shop or nikon any suggestions?

Your contract is with the shop not Nikon. Take it back to the shop.
