hi i have always loved my phtography and currently use a panasonic TZ5 to do my digital shots. i have a Nikon F80 35mm i have had for years, but i am now ready to purchase my first DSLR. now heres my predicament !!i am considering 2 cameras the D90 and D300s .... they are both great cameras but not sure which will suit me ?

i do mainly landscape and nature photos.

any advice please !!?? (oh the F80 is for sale !)

I have both, They are great cameras. Image quality is identical, but I always reach for the D300s first, purley because it fits my hands so much better and I find it faster to use because of the button layout and extra hard buttons/switches! I also prefer the auto focus!

Bottom line? Go handle them both, they feel very different in the hand, biuld quality is much higher on the D300 and its bigger overall. Handling them should give you your answer!
 
thanks for the advice ... and now to make it even arder the D7000 is out end of the month ! i can get a D300s for £979 online so will have alook at both in the shops and have a play .. this site is cool !
 
I wouldn't go for d300s just because.

the only reason I would do so would be because d300s can meter with manual lenses which is very important for me. and the video seems to be better.

so - if money is not an issue I would go for d300s or the d700, not d7000 .
Personally I would go for a d90 + 24-70mm nikkor + 35mm f2 .

both of them are mind blowingly good cameras, so whether you choose, you will be a winner.
 
go with the FX format rather than the DX as FX is the future.

Not for everyone and as technology improves the IQ on crop cameras the need for FX for many becomes less.....................even if it exists at the moment.
